Walla Walla Sweet OnionsFor 103 years, the Arbini family has upheld a tradition in Walla Walla,
WA., of producing an onion so sweet you can eat it like an apple.
This mildness is a result of the onion's high water content which lessens
the quantity of sulphur, reducing the "bite" Unlike other hybrid onions, the our Walla Walla Sweet Onions were developed over several generations through the process of carefully hand-selecting onions from each year's crop. To maintain the purebred strain, the finest sweet onion bulbs are preserved during harvest to produce seed for the following year. This ensures the exceptional sweetness, size and early maturation date. In 1890 Giovanni Arbini left his native Italy and settled in the Walla Walla valley with aspirations of beginning a new life in America. He soon became a truck gardner and was one of several Italian onion growers. However, it is Giovanni Arbini who is credited with the development of the Early Walla Walla Sweet Onion.
